When we talk about “them”, “they” are a mass, not individuals. It is of course much easier to talk about the “mass” more negatively, when it is anonymous. They are referred to as dogs, insects, pigs and the suchlike in order to remove any semblance of human-like qualities they might have.
I have taken photos of Roma for years, from Finland to Istanbul. The photos presented here were taken in the 1960s and 1970s. It was an important time, the world was changing as were the Roma. Many of them still worked in traditional trades, which are now almost completely extinct.
